Spectacled Warbler (Sylvia conspicillata) Toutinegra-tomilheira

A summer visitor to only the southern third of Portugal, (Spectacled Warblers are absent from the remainder), Sagres being the easiest place to find them.

It prefers low bushy scrub on heathland where, though shy, it will frequently perch in the open. The plumage is very similar to a Common Whitethroat in both sexes, but the wing appears a brighter brown, while overall this species appears more colourfull than the Whitethroat.
