(European) Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) Rouxinol-pequeno-dos-caniços

A summer visitor arriving towards the end of March and staying till late September, this plain brown Warbler is more often than not identified from its behaviour, location or call than from its rather uninteresting plumage.

Often adopting a flat-backed, horizontal posture Reed Warblers clamber among the reeds or other waterside vegetation, deftly picking up insects or seeds, frequently hanging upside down as they inspect the low water-side undergrowth.
