Dunlin (Calidris alpina) Pilrito-comum

An over-wintering and passage migrant species here in Portugal, Dunlins can be found on any coastline in the winter - and anywhere at all during their migration! As they moult into their breeding plumage their black bellies make them unmistakeable, but in their winter plumage they can easily be mistaken for Red Knot which are slightly bigger.
