(Common) Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula)

Common Ringed Plovers have bright orange legs and are present in Portugal nominally only for the winter months, but they can be seen on migration also as there is an over-wintering population in Morocco as well, and during this period their beaks, normally black, turn orange with a black tip. Seldom found away from the coast as they prefer mud flats and tidal estuaries.
