(Eurasian) Penduline Tit (Remiz pendulinus) Chapim-de-faces-pretas

For the most part Penduline Tits are an over-wintering species throughout Portugal, though there is some movement in the northern half of the country. They prefer tree-lined watercourses where they feed primarily on insects.

Both sexes are difficult to mistake for anything else as their black mask is distinctive. The sexes are similar, but the male has a fuller mask than the female's which can sometimes be little more than an eye-line.
