Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos) Tordo-comum

A winter visitor to Portugal, breeding from Galicia and the Basque country northwards, Song Thrushes tolerate Man's proximity though remaining aware and shy, and they have reason to be aware here, for, to Portugal's shame, this species is regarded as a game bird and is regularly shot and eaten.

We have many wild olive trees here with small fruit which they adore and it is relatively easy to find them during the colder months of the year if one simply hangs around near the olive trees.
